Amidst the lush green jungle of the Amazon, where nature shines in its purest form, we experienced a very special Christmas at Cuyabeno Lodge this year. This celebration was not only a celebration of tradition, but also a deep connection between our lodge and the local communities we work with.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we worked with members of the surrounding communities to organize gifts for the children. It was important to us to bring the joy and light of the holidays to the youngest. In a region where material things are often scarce, such gestures are of great importance.
We put together a variety of gifts, ranging from toys and coloring books to useful educational items. Each gift was carefully selected to not only bring joy to the children, but also to encourage their curiosity and creativity. The anticipation of the party was palpable and we could literally feel the excitement in the air.
The presentation of the gifts took place in a very special setting – a ritual reserved for the community. Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures of this moving moment. It is important to respect that such ceremonies have a deep cultural value for the people and are not accessible to outsiders.
This tradition emphasizes the close bond within the community and the importance of cohesion and support. It was an honor to be part of this process, even if we could only act in the background.
With each passing year, our commitment to the communities of the Amazon grows. We strive to make a positive impact not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year. Working with local people and sharing resources are cornerstones of our philosophy.
