Unique nature experience!
Unique nature experience, incredible number of animals (5 different monkey species, anaconda, parrots, caimans, dolphins…), beautiful sunsets in the lagoon with swimming inlays. Perfect location of the lagoon, incredibly excellent guide Fabricio, who on the one hand had discovered the animals in the most invisible places and on the other hand knew very well about each animal. The lodge was very clean, we got an upgrade to the suite, very good organization of the trip. The food was ok to good, a little dry, but otherwise everything was absolutely fine, no one got sick. Ivette tried very hard and even organized the bus tickets from Quito. Highly recommended!

Great travel for wildlife enthusiast & photographer
What a experience. Me and my friend stayed there from december 13-16, 2024. We met a great guide (Pabricio) who is very chill and had plenty of knowledge on what we are experiencing. It is definitely hot, humid and much mosquitos coming in but it is part of the experience so get heaps of repellents! One bottle per person for trip is adequate. We went to meet indigenous community and had yuka made food on the first day while travelling around lagoons and river branches. The guide spotted whatever animals there are and explained. The second day we went for a long hiking where we saw different animals, different terrains and plants. Be careful if you have an iphone as mine kinda malfunctioned after a big rain during tracking. In the afternoon, we went for lagoon for swimming. On the third day we went to see Caymans and Anaconda around the edge of lagoon and went for relatively short hiking at different part of amazon. We went for another swim and went for night walk for nocturnal species. The last day was pretty chill, same thing but different part of amazon just on the early morning until we left at 9 am. So if you are too tired you can decide to stay and sleep before the breakfast. Overall, it was a great trip, 4 days are enough and will comeback for this. But just keep in mind that this is in the middle of wilderness and cannot expect the same convenience like hotels in the city.

Unforgettable experience
It was a unique experience, in a place surrounded by nature and a variety of wildlife. During the four days and three nights we felt very comfortable with the hotel facilities. We were able to rest very well and totally disconnected from the city. The food was excellent as was our guide Lupe, who entertained us with his stories. Thanks to it, we were able to observe a variety of animals that we could not perceive. What we liked the most were the rowing canoe rides during the evening. We recommend it!!!

As a middle aged American woman traveling by herself into the Amazon, I found the experience grounding and overwhelmingly beautiful. Ivette was so helpful and made the travel to Cuyabeno feel very doable. I had the privilege of visiting when only one other Ecuadorian couple was on tour with me at first. I throughly enjoyed getting to know them and our guide, Fabricio, as we explored the beautiful and changing landscape(s) of the lagoon. Seeing the sunset and spotting caiman was so fun. The next day our 4 hour hike was like being on safari. We were out scouting, looking to find lizards, birds (oh the birds), and plants. The trees were fascinating–able to adapt to such a changing landscape. Our guide’s knowledge and expertise was so in depth. If he spotted a bird, you learned all about it, from what it eats, to how it birds, to many many variations there are. It was amazing. From trees used as contraception, to sinewy vines used as deadly poison, to mushrooms used for cancer, our guide made sure we knew the gifts that the Amazon has given to all of humanity. Then more travelers joined and that was fun to hear their stories as well. I felt like the visit to the indigenous community felt authentic and I loved hearing their story which was represented with respect and honor. I loved being able to help Gabbie (sp) make yucca bread. I loved hearing about the governance the indigenous people have over the reserve, and was intrigued by the idea of giving nature rights as the Ecuadorian constitution does, or so I learned. I will not forget this experience soon. Thank you.

We have been to Cuyabeno lodge in 2018 and had such a good time, we decided to go again this year. Not a moment’s regret, we were treated so well, had a very knowledgeable guide, Fabricio, enjoyed the whole experience wholeheartedly. Thank you to all the staff, may your hard work benefit conservation for a long time in your beautiful area.

Our experience in Cuyabeno louge
The experience at the Cuyaabeno Lodge and in the Ecuadorian Amazon was wonderful, a different family trip; a quiet place accompanied only by the sounds of nature. Tours of the forest, the river, the lagoon, visit the communities were well organized, with sightings of different birds, monkeys, snakes, etc., this time the pink dolphins decided not to leave. The very nice Guide, originally from the place shared her knowledge and experience from a particular vision, showing what is hers, and is part of her own life. The delicious food; my vegan daughter, my vegetarian son had no problem, the kitchen staff took special care in preparing their food, – whenever we travel we have problems with vegan food, but this time we do not. All staff very attentive and willing to help, proper cleaning of all spaces, considering it is the jungle and not easy by the weather, heavy rains heat – humid. For my family it was an unforgettable trip Some recommendations and that can be improved: equipment should be renovated like water boots, have in all sizes and in good condition, improve maintenance, especially of the bathrooms.

We had a very good experience in Cuyabeno, we highly recommend it. The program was very active and varied, Tamara is a very good and dedicated Guide, who helped us find a great variety of animals. The food was always delicious and the whole team was very friendly. Regards to Enrique, the best motorbike canoe driver! 🙂

A fabulous experience
We had a fabulous four days at the Cuyabeno Lodge. Lisa and Luis were very responsive and informative in the planning of the trip, and the staff at the lodge were attentive and friendly. The installations at the lodge are showing their age, but everything was functional and the accommodation was clean and as comfortable as can be expected in a rainforest. The lodge is surrounded by vegetation, so you wake up to the sound of the insects and can watch monkeys in the trees from your balcony. The meals were good (and copious!). Most importantly, our guide, Fabricio, was excellent and his ability to spot wildlife hidden in the vegetation as the canoe swept past has to be seen to be believed! We would have no hesitation in recommending the Cuyabeno Lodge.
